Don Henley Set to Perform at The Paramount

March 6th, 2013

Today, The Paramount in downtown Huntington, Long Island, N.Y., announced that Don Henley – founder of the Eagles – is confirmed to rock the stage on April 3rd, 2013 @ 8pm. Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime concert experience will go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster & The Paramount Box Office at 10am this Friday, March 8th. “After 200 concerts since our opening in 2011, bringing Don Henley to Huntington is quite possibly the biggest show we have ever booked”, said Brian Doyle, one of the Paramount’s owners. “On the heels of Matchbox 20 this weekend, Joe Walsh next month and a variety of the best classic rock stars on the planet coming to town, (Emmylou Harris, The Marshall Tucker Band & George Thorogood), this may be our best month ever!” exclaimed Mr. Doyle.

Best known as a founder of the legendary rock band, the Eagles, as well as an influential solo artist, Don Henley has maintained an extraordinary commitment to music and to various philanthropic efforts throughout his career, including a dedication to environmental issues and artists’ rights. Raised in a small East Texas town, Henley was drawn to the sounds of exotic music broadcast from distant radio stations in New Orleans, Nashville and Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. These stations introduced him to the blues, bluegrass, gospel, jazz and rock and roll, paving the way for his future as an artist.

As a solo artist and as a member of the Eagles, Don Henley has received countless accolades, numerous gold and platinum records and performed sold-out concert tours worldwide. Henley is a founding member, vocalist and songwriter of the Eagles. The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. The Eagles formed in 1971 and epitomized a musical style that included elements of country, folk, R&B, rock and pop and became one of the most influential American bands in recent decades. The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five #1 U.S. singles and six GRAMMY® Awards. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the best-selling album of all time, exceeding sales of 29 million units. The band’s Hotel California and their Greatest Hits Volume 2 have sold more than 16 and 11 million albums respectively. In 2012, the Eagles continued reaching new milestones in their 40-year career. In addition to touring throughout South Africa and the Middle East for the first time ever, the band also made its debut at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in May with a headlining performance.

TODD RUNDGREN NEW ALBUM ‘STATE’ & US TOUR ANNOUNCED

February 13th, 2013

Prolific musical experimenter, premier league pop craftsman, tireless producer, runt, wizard and true star Todd Rundgren will release his new studio album ‘STATE’ on the Esoteric Antenna label via Cherry Red on Tuesday, April 9th.  ‘STATE’ is Rundgren’s 24th solo studio album (and that’s not including the 2 albums he recorded with his first band the Nazz, and the 9 albums he recorded with his band Utopia!).  Todd’s latest musical vision is a fusion of rock, soul, R & B and electronica that is at once danceable, groundbreaking, spiritual, challenging and infectious. The full track listing of the album is:

TODD RUNDGREN: ‘State’

  1. Imagination
  2. Serious
  3. In My Mouth
  4. Ping Me
  5. Angry Bird
  6. Smoke
  7. Collide-A-Scope
  8. Something From Nothing
  9. Party Liquor
  10. Sir Reality

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Todd Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to front “The Nazz” – the quintessential `60s psychedelic pop group.  In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut “Runt”.  But it was 1972′s seminal “Something / Anything?” on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the limelight prompting the media to dub him “Rock’s New Wunderkind.”  It was followed by such landmark LPs as “Todd”, “The Hermit of Mink Hollow” and “A Wizard A True Star”.  In 1974, Todd formed Utopia, who were on the cutting edge of progressive rock in the 70s and developed into a very tidy power pop outfit into the 80s.

Rundgren’s career as a producer has included seminal albums by The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, XTC, Hall & Oates and one of the bestselling albums of all time – Meat Loaf’s Bat out of Hell. Sealing his reputation as rock’s Renaissance Man, Rundgren composed all the music and lyrics for Joe Papp’s 1989 Off-Broadway production of Joe Orton’s Up Against It (the screenplay commissioned by The Beatles for what was meant to have been their third motion picture), as well as the score for Dumb and Dumber and a number of television series, including Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Crime Story.  Todd’s annual musical summer camp, this year celebrating his 65th birthday and dubbed Toddstock v6.5, takes place near New Orleans on June 17-22.
